The Local was launched as the Bourne Local in 1989 by an independent publisher who wanted the town to have its own voice. With its focus firmly on community, the title has grown in size and stature.

It now covers the Deepings as well as villages within a 15-mile radius of Bourne, Lincolnshire.

The Local became part of Johnston Press in 2005 and went online in 2006, making news from the area available across the globe.
